Adventure Tourism may be defined as a leisure activity that takes place in an unusual, exotic, remote, or wilderness destination and tends to be associated with high levels of involvement and activity by the participants, most of it outdoors. Adventure travelers are explorers of both an outer world, especially the unspoiled, exotic parts of our planet and an inner world of personal challenge, self perception and self mastery.

Adventure travel is a type of tourism, involving exploration or travel to remote, exotic and possibly hostile areas. Adventure tourism is rapidly growing in popularity, as tourists seek different kinds of vacations. According to the U.S. based Adventure Travel Trade Association, adventure travel may be any tourist activity, including two of the following three components: a physical activity, a cultural exchange or interaction and engagement with nature.
Bosnia and Herzegovina with its natural wealth provides the ideal opportunity for Adventure tourism.

Along with skiing throughout the country in winter, outdoor activities include hiking, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, kayaking and more extreme activities like rock climbing, alpine snowshoeing, scuba diving and paragliding. It’s particularly attractive to the tourists because of its natural resources, which few countries in the world can boast with. Neretva is the emerald gem of Herzegovina, flowing over 60 miles from its source into the Adriatic Sea. In the upper canyon, you’ll find some of the most beautiful rafting in Europe. Expect deep canyon walls, endemic flora and fauna, and a wild and pristine ambiance that only Neretva can provide.

Do not remain indifferent toward the beautiful surroundings of Foca, where you can enjoy rafting on Tara, which raises adrenalin, but also relaxes the soul.
